Let there be PEACE

Parul thinks . . . Parul says . . .

For what is sometimes just an event in history, reduced to a paragraph in history books, how much it changes life is unimaginable for the one who hasn't been through it. Heard a family's story from the partition times and it killed me, it was monstrous, horrendous, but for me it just had been about the two nation theory and the Mountbatten plan. The value of anything in life is the amount of life you exchange for it; and how much have people lost in the partition has still not been recovered. Why? Because this old man who was a teen when the partition happened still wants to go home, is reading about it, talking about it, trying to rediscover his identity. His hometown is Lahore, but his home, his palace, he doesn't know what happened of it. For the history was dead when 1947 happened, and for memories were lost, but people usually have their last wish to die at home in peace, he has no hope of going home. Such an identity crisis not for just one person but for the whole family, the whole clan. Their grandchildren have heard their hometown is Lahore, Pakistan, but they say they are settled in Delhi. A one page event in a history book, took away lives and lives, and the life people had made for themselves; to never be found again, memories that are deeply etched in the hearts of people and the pain that transcends through generations of the grieved.

But did we take any learning from the past? Did 1947 not happen again? It certainly did, and it kept happening. Muzaffarnagar would have never happened if we were sensitive to the pain that people went through in such riots. Are we not human enough to understand that these acts of violence just topple peoples' life. Life is a misery for them and for all of us who don't approve of violence, who have a heart to understand that the gains are not as big but the losses can't even be evaluated. Imagine suddenly being thrown out of your home at once, and never come back again; I can't even imagine what it would be like, but people have been through it and are still going through it, may it be muzaffarnagar or be it Gaza.

Let there be peace. The price we are paying for violence and that we have already paid can never be recovered. Nobody gains from loss of lives. Ashoka understood this when he was a victor of Kalinga war, but could he sleep in peace, could he celebrate his victory; No, because he bloodshed, the massacre, the wailing children, the crying widows, the limping men, the disappearing humanity was not equivalent to the state he just won. He could never undo what happened at Kalinga but he understood this truth of life to never go back to a battlefield ever again spreading the message of peace and love. Today, we call him Ashoka - the great, but even he faultered but he is great because he could change. Let us all change for the better, better of oneself and better of humankind.

Being a Daughter

Parul thinks . . . Parul says . . .
First of all, I would like to congratulate all the boys out there who gave a pleasant happiness to their parents , the day they were born and all the patience in the world to deal with their tantrums life-long.

And secondly, girls, you could just do nothing about it. But make sure that you leave no stone unturned in the process of being a worthy daughter who becomes a bliss for the parents down the magical road of life. It's never going to be easy. But, I still wish you all the best of luck.... me myself too... This is not impossible but tough... very,very tough!!!

The major problem is that the son and the daughter are never seen through the same sieve. Things that would be seen as just normal for the son, renders a tag of Insolence for a daughter plus the harsh social melodrama, which for a modern day girl is nothing but a dark comedy on her whole existence. It's not only puberty they attain sooner!!!

I Question : Is it really wrong to take care of yourself and for that matter of your sisters and brothers and parents and grandparents etc? Why is everyone always dubious about how well you can do things?

I was just crossing by a street and i witnessed a scene. A father and a daughter wer trying to make some changes in their house and they had to lift this very heavy cot through the ends, but after enough trials, she still failed to move it, even by a whisker. And to my extreme sadness, the father just dropped all his work off and stood helpless, with a dull hope on his face an his body saying "I wish I had a son instead". I don't understand, people are living in old age homes, and the daughters are bringing parents home, when son's have the money settled. A daughter can love and care like nobody else. No hard feelings against the sons, but sadly half the population doesn't really understand the trauma a girl goes through all her life.

When a girl is born, even today some people try to get rid of "it";
When she starts going to the school, even today people compromise on her education,saving money for the maids;
When she goes into high school, she is seldom asked where she should be headed to, but the decisions are taken for her by someone else;
When she goes to college, she has to compromise with her college because her brother needs to go to a better college, after all he is to take care of the family later;
When she steps out of her home, even today, she has to keep her eyes down because you never know when she faces assault;
When she travels on the train, even today, she cannot really sleep, really sit on that vacant seat, really be free of worries, because of the way the world has "matured";
When she gets into an argument with her elders, even today, she just keeps quiet n cries going into the other room, not because she doesn't have the answer, but because even though she can hurt and insult the other person, she will never choose  to do so... because she is somebody, nobody can ever be, for whom the foremost thing is love and care,despite all odds and grudges;
When she is sad, she manages to cry and still manage to cook and feed the family;
When she has no money, even without a penny she can give you the best gifts of life because she is truthful and honest and vanity-less;

When she has nothing to be hopeful about, she finds hope in the simplest things in life and lives;
A smile from a stranger can keep her going in the worst of times;
A hug is magic for her;
A shoulder that doesn't shrug her is what bliss means to her;

She expects the least and tries to give the maximum.
Yes, she has no self-respect and no ego, because she has sacrificed herself n the process of making this world a nursery for good things and good emotions. She keeps trying, even when she is failing every moment of her life; because that is what she can actually do!!!

She seems fragile but is really strong because friends, she has already seen more of the cruel world  than you would ever see and dealt it - A Brave-heart.

My sweet friends and sisters

“Be who you need to be, set your goals, find your path, do it your way and be true to yourself,”

Because the world will never be what it needs to be, if we give up; keep crying but never stop trying!!!

THE STRANGE STRANGERS' CONVERSATION

Parul thinks . . . Parul says . . .
2012...a new fresh start....:)....sry for bein away but have been really busy...wid UDAAN-ggu's annual magazine "of the students, for the students and by the students" and the musical band of GGU-"TARANG"....well..k i m dun wid d excuse...:P...;)...

Letz go on wid wat i have in mind.... :) ... a new thing to share...:)..n maybe food for your thought...

Well,this is about a conversation i had with a stranger today...:)...ya ya....i know...stranger sounds interesting...read till the end...trust me it was....:D

I have been seeing this person for a long tym but actually there had been no such thing lyk a conversation...juz a normal hi n hello...he is elder n i will reveal at the end...hw we are related...;)....suspense....:P...

Well...we had a short group conversation at one of my most frequently visited places in the univ....and had a laugh...that actually gave a lot of pain to my cheek n shred off a lot of pain n frustration off my heart...ya, we tokd abt thns that were n thns that are...n hw it happened...memories down the lane....n it seemed a beautiful journey...i went on n on n on ....n didn't know how to stop....a very strongly positive aura of four wonderful humans surrounded me...n the positivity, the fun n the rest was truly infectious.... so the tyms that had gone by...n the tyms we were talking abt....:)

Then we went on - in our own directions...dat were  different and abt an hour later...we catch a glimpse of each other at a totally different place...on the road....:P...roads that met...;)...and again in company of two new people...my frenz though..:)....then we went on....OMG,i gave a stranger a lift..:P...;)...not totally a stranger though...worth the risk....;)...

Then, stopping near his place we again  stood on the roads that were meant to diverge....(o'cos...)....was offered a cup of coffee but stranger= don't eat or drink nethn coming frm a stranger...;)....but that didn't kill the chatterboxes that were within us... so we went on talking about random issues...abt space and place....n learnt the difference...
"space is any empty volume but when that space is filled by people its a place..."
we were talkin abt how people in a place drive that place progressively or regressively...and how commmenting on a place is not a just thing to do...

We talked abt many many many thns...fun laughter aura peer parents and everythn that affects life....We talked abt success and its meanings...n knew that every achieved feat gives a license to dream bigger...thns went from punjab to pune to bangalore to chandigarh to mumbai to delhi n then there was dis talk abt dilliwala n mumbaiwala....were during our strange stranger conversation we developed a logic abt why dilliwalas are dilliwalas and mumbaiwalas are mumbaiwalas...n do u wanna know????;)

hehe...may be it is because....:P....mumbai being the financial capital n glamour country...is a home for strugglers but delhi...is a politically correct capital of this amazing nation wid offices and hqs of innumerable depts. givin out govt. jobs in plenty...thus a home for secure people....maybe thats the diference...:P...;)..wat say?

well neways...after a lot of talk...n talks abt dreams n course of life...it was tym to farewell with this respectable stranger and wid smyls...n memories of a wonderful conversation ...i got bak home...:)....

P.S. me sahee me badi wali gapod hu...;)...:P

FAMILY NO.1

Parul thinks . . . Parul says . . .

Family no.1... this was a daily soap that used to come on one of the tv channels...well that's just a lame statement justifying the title...but actually this post is aboutthe family ties n bonds that we share....an assimilation of sweet and sour feelings which is forever cherished and which makes life like "LIFE"...

Well i am writing this post the festivities of eid, ganesh chaturthi and teeja...and these two days have been awesome...happy....festive...joyous...it really feels like if you have your family supporting you,guiding you or just being by your side...any damn storm can't take a toll of you ever....

We had so much fun...n the best part the pool lunches and dinner...(kudos to the mistresses of spices and sweets around me!!!)....you talk about insane things like the spelling of swipe and you talk over family issues ...you have happiness bubbling around you...it just is brilliant...i'm really lucky that i have such a wondrous family with cheerful funny people...and its really great that we have these festive occasions and birthdays anniversaries and others as an alibi to be together irrespective of our monotonously busy and strict schedules....and all the gratitude to god that he let me be born in India!!!

India works real fine for me...
I love my India...and i love my family...

BEING HUMAN !!!

Parul thinks . . . Parul says . . .

Before i have my say,i want to ask u something...

ARE WE STILL HUMAN???
ARE WE BEING HUMAN???
ARE WE REALLY ALIVE???

Why is it that today we have to get horrendously logical even when we want to help somebody???isn't humanity still alive???why not...

My heart aches in writing this but at 19,a person was as soft as a petal with a million dreams and one of them 'being human till the end'...at 20,that very person feels like he/she is stone cold and has a heart as hard as a diamond...what do you expect that innocent person to say wen his/her hair turn all grey and more so will by then,there would be blues flowing through his heart instead of blood???

Why does our environment , our system lets a petite mind feel that his humanitarian qualities better go n sleep instead of being awake and ready to take the world hands on????why we can't we just do what our heart feels at least in emotional issues at this age at least...we need to form an India whose foundations are on the basis of a human nature....we need to make India an assimilation of loving hearts that beat together...

Develop yourself and the nation but amidst this all,through technological advancements ,structural upliftments ,societal ethos...its high time for us to "BE HUMAN"...

LETS MAKE INDIA KNOWN FOR WHAT DOESN'T EXIST IN MOST PARTS OF THE WORLD N WHERE INDIA TOPS THE LIST SINCE EVER....OUR LOVE,PASSION,EMOTIONS,CARE,CONCERN.....OUR HUMANITARIAN CONCERS!!!

IT'S ALL ABOUT BEING HUMAN GUYZ....LETZ BE HUMAN!!!

SMALL TOWN-BIG DREAMS

Hello Friends !!!

SMALL TOWN-BIG DREAMS

This post is about small-town people and big-city people and the sickening difference that seems to prevail between the two... small town people are definitely a little lesser equipped but have no dearth of talent and are definitely very hardworking....and as is said the thing that one gets after a struggle and immense hard work....when accomplished is much more cherished...

Small town people are down-to-earth and get happy with small joys of life and there's this positivity in their hearts despite the harsh realities of life...but one should never let go of one's dreams just because of the lack of opportunities....they say.."opportunity never knocks twice" but in reality you even have to keep your doors open because it may silently just LEAVE...make opportunities knock your door and den just overpower it with dedicated labour and smart thinking and tolerant talent of yours...

Big-city people ,on the other hand,should not boast of having the right opportunity at the right time but actually nail it hard and try to make the opportunity available to the less lucky ones and hence try to narrow the difference between gao and shehar ....shehar and mahanagar....

lets strive towards making India a land where everyone's dreams come true...let's all learn together the art of hard work and master the talent of respecting others and accepting people as they are !!! lets be confident and be humble !!!

See a Dream,
Make it ur Aim,
Work hard on It,
You will surely Win the Game !!!

ONE INDIA !!! एक भारत !!!
